DISCLAIMER: This post is going to be all over the place.
Firstly, I apologize for the inconsistency in my posting times. Due to the hectic schedule of a student, I have not been posting as often as I would like to; however, I plan to be posting more frequently in the future. The reading challenged is going very well. I have read 2 and ½ books so far out of 20. I am a little bit ahead of schedule, and I plan to maintain this pace throughout the year.
Also, I plan to do a book review as well as research and statistics on the notes I take in each book to answer research questions, apply my statistics class to this blog, inform you, and interpret how the reading went. If you choose, you can read the books I do along with me. I will also publish the reviews on Good Reads, leaving a link for you in this blog at some point.
I also plan to leave links for each book, a to-be-read list (not in order), and the links to my separate blog where I will post all of the research and reviews.
Stay safe and warm on Valentine’s and show affection to your loved ones. However, don’t break the bank.
The History of Valentine’s Day by Kyle Shipp
Originally celebrated as a Roman holiday in mid-February to pair women and men together, Valentine’s Day has transformed into a much more symbolic and financially costly endeavor than ever before. A survey by the National Retail Federation shows that “Americans will spend on average $161.96 each to lavish their loved ones. That’s up almost $20, about 13 percent in just a year” (Bludau, 2019).
Although much controversy exists regarding who this national holiday is named after, certainty lies in the facts that mass weddings are oftentimes held on this date, and affection in the form of candy, flowers, chocolate, and gifts is not uncommon in many countries across the globe.
