Mere Philosophy #5

Mere Philosophy #5
Imagine an orchard that fully develops only once. Similar to this orchard, the field of scientific advancement has less and less “easier to reach” apples at the bottom of the tree (the tree referring to the field of science). Although apples (scientific innovations) still inhabit the top of the tree, fewer apples exist now than after the tree was originally planted.
Much like the diminishing number of apples on the tree, I have theorized that the number of advancements in the field of science and the number of innovations is also decreasing, or at least becoming harder to carry out. After all, it took Elon Musk, an astounding genius of the 21st century, to build re-landable rockets. Thus, it’s likely that scientific advancement for the common citizenry will cease due to the increasing intellectual stimulation required to make these advancements. Because of this, I have coined, “The Orchard Theory.”
I state my beliefs upon this subject not to discourage anyone from engaging in scientific advancement. I say this to motivate Americans to further the field of science through intellectual development. If we would like to maintain a firm, cognitive grasp on the field of science and where it is taking us, we must first seek to truly explore the depths of our own mind through the acquisition of shear, scientific knowledge.

I hope you enjoyed the post. Thanks for all the support!
