How to Maximize your Potential During Finals Week
How to Maximize your
Potential During Finals Week
Finals week has
crept up around the corner, and sleep deprivation has set in for many college
and high school students. However, procrastination and last-minute studying do
not have to be the case if you approach this comprehensive testing week
correctly.
Although
students are not perfect at balancing study time and sleep, a consistent sleep
schedule is a necessity for acing those economics and history questions. So,
when faced with the option of going to bed or studying all night, choose sleep.
Receiving a consistent amount of sleep every night can acclimate your body to
its natural circadian rhythms, allowing optimal functioning during the daytime.
“William Knaus, a
psychologist, estimated that 90 percent of college students procrastinate. Of
that group, 25 percent are chronic procrastinators and often drop out of
college” (Shepherd & Shaughnessy, 2018, para. 12). So when confronted with
the task of studying for a test, space out your studying, take a break from
your phone, plan a sleep schedule, and feel confident in your taking the exam.
